    Europlanet Attends DPS-EPSC 2023
marchepas

Members of the Europlanet Society, the Society’s Executive Office team from the ESF, and its Early Career network (EPEC) attended the joint DPS-EPSC meeting in San Antonio (TX, US) between the 1st and 6th of October 2023. At the Europlanet Society booth, one part was staffed by members of the Executive Office team, allowing the visitors to discover, learn more about, or sign up for the Europlanet Society or its newsletter. Executive Office and Board members met with DPS leadership for important discussions. A second part of the booth was dedicated to EPEC, who also offered diverse activities during the week: a workshop on mental health, a meeting for PhDs students and young postdocs, and a social gathering. It was great to meet so many of you in person, and we look forward to seeing you next year at EPSC 2024!

EUROPLANET MENTORSHIP PLATFORM - Call for Mentors!
marchepas

The Europlanet Mentorship platform aims to provide a central point of contact for early career scientists to develop expertise, ask questions and discuss career plans with more established members of the planetary community.

Through the Europlanet Mentorship programme, we aim that Mentees are given the support they need to become collaborative and open-minded colleagues and leaders, enabling them to pursue their chosen career paths.

We will put Mentees in contact with a Mentor who can support them to take steps to achieve better levels of professional success. In matching Mentees with Mentors, we will try to find synergies between the Mentor’s areas of strength and the Mentee’s mentoring needs, including shared interests and relevant areas of experience.

Alessandro Morbidelli's Inaugural Lecture at the Collège de France | January 25, 2024
marchepas   Determinism and Stochasticity in Planetary Formation: For centuries, it was expected that all planetary systems, owing to the universality of physical laws, would roughly resemble our own – with small rocky planets close to the star and gas giants further out, all on nearly circular orbits. However, the discovery of numerous extrasolar planets has revealed the vast diversity of planetary systems. This inaugural lecture will present the current state of knowledge about the structures of known planetary systems, while situating our solar system within this broader context.
