Planetary Defence: Astronomy and Space Missions at the Service of Humanity

The first line of defence against threats from impacts of asteroidal bodies on Earth is detecting these bodies, know what they look like and where they are going. The field of planetary defence has developed enormously in the past decades. This webinar will be in two parts. During the first hour (14-15h CEST )we will watch via screen sharing the English language version of the 2024 documentary film Collisions: asteroid hunters (https://www.francetvpro.fr/contenu-de-presse/68469549). During the second hour Patrick Michel (OCA, France) and Richard Moissl (NEOCC ESA) present the current status of the field and what lies ahead in the future.
